About this deal

God is the ultimate healer and though the Chronic Illness may never go away, he can lead us to prayer for dealing with the pain and one day he will heal us in glory. Since the Bible very clearly says it is God who ordains suffering to even the choicest saints, it would be rebellious to assail God by words or arguments regarding any of His dealings toward us.

As one who has suffered a chronic illness for over a decade I wanted to like this book, and I tried, I really tried. The necessity of trusting in the sovereignty of God is made clear, yet, the comforting love of God is also evident. In stark contrast to one of the reviewers who said, "to think God “ordained” such makes me feel angry and rebellious against such a God," there is this quote by Charles Spurgeon who spent his whole life battling severe depression and gout. As one who has chronic (and as yet undiagnosed) health issues, this book is a blessing and one I will probably purchase in paperback and refer to over and over again. We are by nature children of wrath and so every moment not being under His wrath, and having everything He permits work out to our good and His glory is grace and mercy, lavished. Chronic Love: Trusting God while Suffering with a Chronic Illness is a book for women who are either suffering from chronic illness or those who care for those suffering. It wasn’t until this year that I truly accepted that despite treatments, beaucoup medications, and natural remedies, my body was not going to get better in the physical sense.

If you or a loved one suffer from chronic illness or are a caregiver for someone who does, “Chronic Love” will minister to your heart and soul and give you strength for the journey. Even with that, I would recommend the book for the discerning reader for there is much to learn from author Brooke Bartz, who herself is well acquainted with chronic illness, sharing her love and compassion for others with passion and exhortation. Soon after and while still in college, she married her childhood crush and began a volleyball coaching career. This book taught me so much more about my battle with my chronic illnesses and that god put me through this for a reason. The book shows women how to really dig deep into God's Word and rely on him, even through the toughest days. This book was fully saturated with scripture and was a huge encouragement to those who suffer daily. So, don't trust your feelings, embrace what Scripture says and what this author stays consistent to and enjoy these abiding truths. Jesus told us we would face perilous trials and that even our bodies would feel the effects of the Fall.
