About this deal

When Bob addresses human tourists, who wear bubble-shaped glass helmets over their ordinary clothes, he denies that aliens exist; observant readers will suspect otherwise. The text and the pictures are well connected supporting each other, however they have their own life too: the story can be read without looking at any of the pictures, and as the book is richly illustrated it is very easy to make up your own storyline without reading. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. Absolutely my favourite book to read to children, one of their favourites to listen to (though Daddy insisting on reading it never goes down well.

But the double page spread in the centre is a BIT MUCH for 3 year olds and because of this, The Man on the Moon cannot be in the bedroom at night-time. Tripping lightly across the planet's golden surface, Bob vacuums space junk out of craters ("Quite often astronauts drop candy wrappers and cans") and enjoys a club sandwich with the Man on Mars and the Man on Saturn.

Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated!

Templar) ‘Every morning Bob rises at six o’clock… has a cup of tea and two eggs for breakfast before leaving for the rocket launch pad. Man on the Moon: A Day in the Life of Bob (newly re-issued by Templar) is a truly wonderful piece of art and story alike.

I can imagine this story would be wonderful to teach in a Primary setting as there are many directions you could take with the concept of the 'man on the moon' - Space topics, looking at difference and developing visual literacy, among them. With its bold, quirky illustrations and charming story of a lunar caretaker, Simon Bartram’s Man on the Moon series has become a modern picture book classic. This book tells the story of Dougal who can't wait to finish his day at work as the next day his holidays start.I've managed to get two weeks worth of work out of this one book alone and barely scratched the surface!

Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Tonight, we bring our space-themed celebration of the Apollo 11 moon landings to an end with a glimpse into a potential future for the moon – Man on the Moon (a day in the life of Bob) by Simon Bartram. With its colourful and droll illustrations that leap off the page, perfectly matched by the playful text, this wonderful picture book is as much of a treat to read whether you're a 4-year old or a 40-year old (or more)! His day ends with final checks, turning on of the moon’s nightlight and a rush-hour rocket ride home!As a picture book, all parents will enjoy reading this story during the daytime or bedtime, the narrative is engaging and the children are fully absorbed in the images.
