About this deal

The way Hobb dealt with the aftermath of the final events in Royal Assassin was fantastic and I thought it would stay that way throughout this tome. The main problem was once again, repetition overload, and mostly because Fitz was alone with a bunch of new characters here.

If a book is so-so, it ends up under the bed somewhere, or maybe under a stinky judo bag in the back of the van. It was nice to finally see a bit more competence from the enemy, since so far, it had always seemed a bit strange that Regal and his cronies were able to steal and hold onto power so easily. I already knew that Assassin's Quest is considered to be one of the weakest novels in the Realm of Elderlings series. Under Hobb's name on the cover there's a line "author of x" that changes from "Royal Assassin" to "Ship of Magic" to "Fool's Fate" between printings.Nighteyes and the Fool remain the stars of the series while the two additions, Starling and Kettle, did not impress me much. Right now I’m a bit bummed I have to make my way through an entire other trilogy first 😅 I’m sure I’m going to love it but still. Grab a copy of Assassin's Quest, boil your kettle and settle down for a thoroughly enthralling read!

Assassin’s Apprentice was her first novel which began the internationally acclaimed Farseer trilogy. And that Kettle put it into words for him how Molly was a part of his childhood but not his adult life. All the while, Fitz manages to meet three separate women (none of which are Molly) who all want to fuck him.

I know many of my goodreads friends gave “Assassin’s Quest” a rather low rating and weren’t happy with the ending and even though I understand their reasoning I still feel the need to declare that I liked it! my reading resolution for this year is try to complete the many series i have started but havent finished. Instead, Verity and Fitz's minds switch bodies, allowing Verity to share a last night with Kettricken and providing the final surge of emotion and memory needed.I think I forgot to mention this in my reviews of the previous two books, but I’ve always thought he was absolutely hilarious, and I love his mysterious airs. So yes, the surroundings are different, the tone of the book is different, the interactions between the cast of characters are different and the ending is so very different to everything everyone imagined that it is kind of hard to wrap your head around it. You can see each one coming long before it happens, rendering the book amazingly predictable, and every time Fitz managed a miraculous escape, mostly through sheer luck.

Assassin's Quest brings to a conclusion The Farseer Trilogy, a rich tale that improves with each book. Still, there is so much I don’t know about him and I hope that one of the other trilogies will provide me with even more information about his origins and background story. Yes, the book is long, far longer than the previous 2, but it could have been double the size and it wouldn't have been enough for me, such is my enjoyment at immersing myself in the world of Fitz and his companions (and adversaries)! One of MANY examples: Fitz did something wrong because he didn’t know about the situation-> (insert character name) that knows about the situation was angered because of his action, BUT he/she won’t tell Fitz the reason why.Her initial works were published in small press 'fanzines' such as Space and Time (editor Gordon Linzner). New introduction by the author, 5 full-page colour illustrations in each volume by David Palumbo and a redrawn double-page map by Neil Gower. I just wish the characters would have had to work a bit harder, go through a bit more character growth, and sacrifice more to get what they wanted. My opinion of Starling quickly goes downhill when she first reprimands Fitz over how he treats Molly, then immediately tries to sleep with him. Not only fans of the fantasy genre will enjoy these books as there is such a large human element to them that they appeal to all.
