About this deal

SIMPLE SET UP: With Artie 3000’s built-in WiFi server, no internet connection is required; Kids plug their own tablet or computer (not included) in Artie 3000 and follow step-by-step instructions to start programming in minutes! Test your code in the online simulator before setting Artie 3000 on a sheet of paper to draw the shape you've coded.

Artie is brilliant for developing a whole array of skills from creativity, basic maths, geometry to programming. Chromebooks can be used for Artie 3000 but it depends on the security updates Chrome book has in place. Quick and Easy to Set Up– I literally opened the box, popped in some AA batteries, followed some short instructions to allow me to programme him from our tablet (so much easier than it sounds, I promise! He did point out it could be possible, although very very unlikely, that Artie could be used to deliver malware. Artie 3000 does not require an internet connection however when connected and coding with Artie you cannot access other sites on the device you are using. Once connected, I then navigated to the link provided in the browser on my iPhone and followed the instructions on the included activity cards. Description: Artie 3000 the Coding Robot for kids programming is the award-winning coding robot that introduces children to real programming languages.

With four modes of coding play: pre programmed shapes, games, art for colouring and freeform coding. Children will learn left brain skills such as basic computer programming, geometry and maths, while engaging the right side of their brains to create colourful designs! Due to the fact that there are no USB ports on a Chrome Book, you would need to update Artie 3000 on another device.Older or more experienced children can extend the learning further as Artie supports the use of more advanced programming languages such as Blockly, Python and even Javascript!

To use the markers with Artie, simply lift up the flap on the head and insert the marker in the hole (a marker guide can be fitted on the underside so that the marker is in the correct position for the robot to lift the pen up and down when drawing). The product’s unique bridging of technology and coding with art and design saw Artie noted as one of the most innovative products at this year’s London Toy Fair, scooping a prestigious London Toy Fair Hero Award at the event. With built-in local WiFi, a variety of coding apps, remote control, and even the ability to draw, Artie sounds pretty darn fun and it's got the STEM learning chops many parents are looking for. He found the drag and drop tiles easy to use and understood that different sections could have a loop of repeated actions. With four modes of play: pre-programmed shapes, games, art for colouring and free-form coding, children will love coding Artie to “tell” the robot what to do! He said it was much more likely Artie 3000 would be used to plant the seed of curiosity for coding in future generations.
