About this deal

The ultimate in grip over fells, the Inov8 Mudclaw 300 will claw its way through the harshest of terrain and come out the other side asking for more.

Firstly the studs will feel different but you’ll be glad for them, they’re going to grip and help stop you face planting. Given the terrain the Mudclaw eats with ease, you receive a level of cushion from the ground beneath your feet. If you have a wide foot, this is good news because you may now well be able to wear a shoe that you were not able to wear in the past. On the foot the heel feels a little snugger and the shoe is even more flexible , to manipulate around varied terrain. Doesn’t matter if you’re looking for your first pair, or on your 15th pair, these are a part of fell running culture, much like the Walsh. The rand that wraps around the shoe’s upper and toe bumper ensure outstanding protection against stones and other debris. Sit back and relax in the comfort we’ve put these garments and accessories through their paces, in the gym and on the mountains! A dual compound rubber ensures the shoes go the distance, and provide the ability to mould around hard objects whilst being stiff enough to bite into soft ground.

Precision for my relatively wide foot is great when I need it but I wouldn’t want to be running all day with my toes cramped into a shoe. The added cushioning was superb when running longer or when getting off soft ground and on to harder trails. The MUDCLAW 300 delivers the ultimate grip in mud through an aggressive outsole with a unique stud design that releases mud as quickly and efficiently as it grips to it.

In direct comparison to Salming Elements, they are the clear winner and you can tell inov-8 remain true to their fell running roots.

The 6mm footbed is low enough to the ground to respond well to the terrain and provided good proprioceptive (sensation) feedback. We are experiencing a high volume of traffic at the moment, please bear with us whilst we load your page. I changed the sock configuration around for the races that I have been in, either wearing thicker socks, or doubling up with a thin pair and a thick pair, and bang, not a problem. META-SHANK™ (Generation I) - 3-finger polymer Meta-Shank™ aligns behind the metatarsals for greater forefoot flexibility and control when contouring, whilst retaining underfoot impact protection.Alternatively, you can measure the length of your foot and add between 1 and 2cm to find the correct insole length. The only real downside is that I find that I prefer to carry them and change, rather than wear them down on pavements and roads, which is a logistical faff. I was in x-talons, so I couldn't comment on that), and on the odd occasion that I've been running over the hills and traversing, I can say that I sometimes feel that.

Increased protection: The rand that wraps around the shoe's upper and toe bumper ensure outstanding protection against stones and other debris. It needs some faffing with the laces, to lash them down to a secure fit in this size, but at least it doesn’t feel like I will break my toes as soon as there’s any ground impact. We stretch our legs on roads, trail and especially fell – you’ll find us running in Mayfair and the mountains!

Self cleaning comes through intelligent lug design (oh yes it exists – look at the variety of mountain bike tyre treads and applications) as well as the compound. If you put mudclaw 300 on a scale and compare it with mudclaw 265 you will notice no difference in weith. After running around Bleaklow one winter in Roclites, I went over to the Mudclaws simply for the grip in such muddy and slippy conditions. Despite having worn them for just less than 150km, one of the studs is, I fear, starting to deteriorate and rip off.
