About this deal

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

It provided some reassurance and practical tips (breathing exercises, for instance) but I'm not sure it will have a lasting impact on me. The most powerful tool Anna has to communicate this isn’t the letters after her name, it is the fact that she is open about her own experience of maternal anxiety. After losing her grandad and her job as an illustrator in quick succession, she is at a crossroads in life and needs a break. Anna has an honest, reassuring and relatable way of speaking that comes through the pages and makes you instantly feel like there's a friend sat with you, giving you a big hug.

And whilst you are anxious you are committed to being the best mother you can be and yet never seem to think that no matter what you are doing is good enough. that kind of thing) and so fails to account for the far more complex difficult issues low-income and/or single mothers, for example, might face. Anna is a mum of three and an experienced Psychotherapist and passionate psycho-educator, with a specialism for working with women.

She offers little nuggets of gold while reminding us to point some of our kindness and love inwards. You will learn to address the most important conversation you'll ever have - the one inside your head, because investing in your mental health is the best gift you can offer yourself and your child. It's written in a conversational style, as though she's talking to you guiding you along her thoughts and musings.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). You seem to be in this endless pursuit of perfection and yet no matter how perfect you are for your baby, you never seem to see it. You will learn to address the most important conversation you'll ever have - the one inside your head, because investing in your mental health is the best gift you can offer yourself and your baby. In many ways, it’s great that social media gets us talking openly about some of our feelings and thoughts as mothers. It is the one book that all mums - expectant, new and older mums - should have as a reference, a moment of self-care / support and a voice of reason.

You will learn to address the most important conversation you’ll ever have – the one inside your head, because investing in your mental health is the best gift you can offer yourself and your child. In Mind Over Mother, Anna Mathur, psychotherapist and mum of three, explains how to: Understand anxiety, why it affects you and what to do about it.

As I was listening I felt I was going over every chapter of my life, and have gained a better insight into how things have impacted on me. Mind over mother will make a perfect gift for anyone who suffers with anxiety - mother, mother to be, or not. Even after parenting for 10 years successfully, I have experienced all the mum guilt , over thinking and intrusive thoughts associated with the part of doing the best job ever over these years. In this book she offers context, reasoning and perspective on postnatal feelings, worries and anxiety. Perhaps you recognise the general feeling of fear bubbling in the background like white noise that has become part of the soundtrack to your life.I could understand the first chapter being a run down of anxiety but I picked this up expecting a bit more and I don’t have the time to keep reading to see if it gets deeper. Whilst I would have agreed a few years ago, sighed and eye-rolled with a half-smile, it saddened me because I now believe there is more for all of us. The emergency pep talks in the final chapter offer words of encouragement for when you really need them, it's a resource that you can and will keep coming back to in the future.
