About this deal

The police have a growing pile of evidence against him and Joe realizes that he's going to have to find a way to bring Ben out in the open, proving that Joe hasn't killed Ben. They live in the moment and trust their eyes and ears, what they can see in front of them---I think we can all learn something from that. He's super tall, has a beautiful wife, an inquisitive young son he adores, a comfortable profession as a part time schoolteacher, AND is happy and content with life. Lie after lie is batted around, and the author exposes the intrusive nature of technology these days and how the lack of privacy can tear lives apart. The book gets off to a good start but the main character got on my nerves more and more as the book progressed which made me lose interest for awhile.

Posing questions about a persons relationship with technology and how much importance it has come to assume over our lives, this mediocre psychological thriller is a rapid, quick-fire read, but the basic premise of, “can I trust my partner? For exclusive writing, new releases and a FREE deleted scene from Tim, sign up to the Readers’ Club at TM Logan dot com. Joe’s middle name should be “sucker” and leading ladies Mel and wife of Ben, Beth, just feel a little detached and removed from the emotion. Little did he know that based on that one spontaneous decision he was unwittingly in for a life altering surprise.

Now while the story slowed in the middle I started in on my predictions and while I was not spot on at the end I was rather close so by the time the story picked back up to give those last little twists and reveal I wasn’t overly shocked at the outcome.

This is pretty much the point at which most adults would be saying, “Mkay… this doesn’t look good… Normal adults don’t meet people at hotels for non-nefarious purposes… We are gonna go ahead and abort this mission. More than any other criteria, the key thing these books have in common is simple: they are all books I’ve continued to think about since I finished reading them. His wife, who he has always trusted implicitly, has proven that she can’t be trusted, and his world rocked. This book kept me on the edge of my seat and had me quickly turning those pages, I just had to know what in the world was going on!

Or so it seems, and whilst niggling doubts force Joe to continually question the evidence and just what he is seeing, he is unable to turn back the clock and once the genie is of out the bottle the collateral damage is only a matter of time. There was a nice little extra twist at the end though that I did enjoy so in the end I still thought the book was good but could have been a bit better to me. Observant William insists that it indeed is his mother’s car, so Joe gives in to the little boy’s pleas to see her, telling William, “Let’s go and surprise Mummy. It's intense, insane, enthralling, and the chapters literally whiz by, helped massively by the fact that one chapter blends SO seamlessly into the next one that you just can't help but keep reading, until your eyes are incredibly sore because you've been starting at your Kindle screen for over 4 hours. When Joe sees his wife having a confrontation with family friend Ben, it’s the first hint that she’s been lying to him – about everything.
