About this deal

The contract tiles allow you to collect and trade resources as well as a few other actions like stealing the whisky barrel. In no way does this mean that the game is unbalanced, it is perfectly possible to work around these buildings and thwart your opponent at every step of the way, which is absolutely one of the strong points of two player gaming. A variable setup and, at least in the beginning of the game, an undefined placement grid promise a lot of replay value. Glasgow uses what is commonly referred to as a “roundel” system, where each player advances around a ring of spaces, taking whatever action they land on. Two players of ages 10 and up compete to become the most successful merchant in the city of Glasgow.

Each architect will have a couple of buildings placed above it, and using the resources they collect (brick, steel, gold and the wild whiskey token) the players will compete to build these buildings in a four by five grid in the centre of the roundel. This is a balancing mechanic in itself, but in general, Glasgow offers few opportunities to gain a huge advantage, or to give such an opportunity away lightly. One such choice, which is often the main one in multiplayer roundel games, is that of when to skip ahead on the trick, rather than creeping forwards.

This is as simple as trading in any resources needed when landing on an architect space, and then placing the building anywhere in the grid with its arrow pointing towards you.Been here many times with my daughter, but this was my sons first time on roller skates, the staff were amazing with him, didn't get the guys name sorry, but by the end of the 90 mins my son was confidently skating away, will definitely be back. However it is always the turn of the player furthest behind on the ring, so skipping a long way ahead often gives your opponent several goes in a row as they catch up to you. I think the fact that there is no way to completely prevent your opponent from getting points helped.

The artist is Klemes Franz, who has been involved in some big hitters such as Agricola, Le Harve, Orléans and Oh My Goods! Like in Patchwork, the player who is last is the one who does the next turn (or turns if the player stays last in the circle). The Glasgow Game in a box is an offline 'board game' type version of the Glasgow Game, which is available on request from the Glasgow Centre for Population Health. I suppose it could come across as fairly abstract; but if you’ll engage the imagination the artwork goes together really well to create a fun, if slightly dry, picture of Glasgow, Scotland.

But if I don’t build that tenement then perhaps they will, then they would get loads of points and trigger their factories themselves AND still be able to build that park.
