About this deal

I won't go into it much more it's a great book, beautifully written, and well worth your time but if you are just starting to read Kasischke's books I would start with The Life Before Her Eyes or Suspicious River or White Bird In A Blizzard.

Yes, this does sound like a cheesy teen-exploitation horror/drama; rendered in Kasischke's Joyce Carol Oates-like prose, however, the story is creepy. When Kristy, Desiree and another girl sneak out of camp to go cruising, Kristy gives two boys an accidental smile which sets off an unexpected chain of events.Top it off with the story being written in the first-person view of one of those aforementioned messes, Kristy Sweetland, and you've got a world-class narcissist on your hands. Beside me, Desiree was casual and gorgeous, and when we passed other cars, the drivers, who'd caught a glimpse of her out of the corner of their eyes, would snap their heads around to look at her again.I loved her novel "The Life Before Her Eyes," so I thought I'd give "Boy Heaven," her first and only young adult adult novel (YA) a shot. Boy Heaven by Laura Kasischke is a modern-day urban legend that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until they reach the shocking conclusion. Like Oates, who is known for her girl-centric and uncanny narratives of everyday life and its concommitant horrors, Kasischke takes an urban-legend premise and turns it into a mood piece. the tension kept building and i thought this would be a great alternative to those horrid Goosebumps series that my daughter likes to read. It's more of a story of teenagers, with a little eerie feeling throughout, and some beautiful prose about what it feels like to be a teen.
