There is much advance interest in this book; it has been selected by the Literary Guild and Reader's Digest; it should win many friends. However, I am way outnumbered by the ones who loved this book, so if you choose to read it I hope you are one who loves the book.

Based off of Kristin Hannah’s best-selling book of the same name, fans of the story know that the streaming giant’s adaptation differs from the novel significantly. After her best friend’s death from cancer, Tully’s whole life falls apart until she finds herself in a coma following a car accident. The four men think about work and creativity and success and failure; they cook for each other, compete with each other and jostle for each other’s affection. Although powerful, Cloud's largely peripheral story deflects focus away from the main conflict, as if Hannah was loath to tackle the intractable thicket in which she mired her main characters. It became almost an addiction for Marah —the constant thinking about it, the little kit she had —it was intense.where do I begin, Fly Away was amazing in a lot of ways but in some ways it was very hard to read, a lot of controversial subjects were touched upon throughout the book making this book in a way the very opposite to its predecessor. Unexpectedly, Cloud, who rebuffed Tully’s every attempt to reconcile, also appears at her daughter’s bedside. You'd think it would be easy to step back into a world you'd created, but it was surprisingly difficult to find my way back to this story and these characters. Her hard-drinking decline was triggered by Johnny’s anger at her for keeping Marah and Paxton’s liaison secret. But then Kate is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and, as with the series, Tully drops everything to reconcile with her before her death.

As Kate and Johnny’s daughter, Marah, pulls further and further away from her family, she ultimately does something that breaks Tully’s heart. At Kate's funeral, Johnny had "pushed through the crowd [and] passed several people, all of whom murmured some variation of the same useless words—sorry, suffering over, better place.Aging isn't easy for any woman in the public eye, but it may be proving especially difficult for Tully Hart, the ex-star of the once-phenom talk show The Girlfriend Hour. There was a lot of repetition as we listened to each ones story of the same events, at least I think they were relating the same events.

We could totally picture Dorothy because Kristin Hannah gave us such great details to help us picture this hippie woman in 2010. Fans of the novel will know that following Kate and Marah’s appearance on Tully’s Girlfriend Hour segment about mothers and daughters—which turns out to be a segment about how overbearing mothers damage their daughters—both Kate and Tully had a significant falling out. Before it, I had already written eighteen novels, and really, I thought I knew who I was as a novelist.As I said with Firefly Lane, though, this is not my typical genre of reading, and I’m pretty sure it’s not the genre for me. Fly Away is mostly told through flashbacks and readers slowly piece together the events after Kate's death. So if you want to read Fly Away on its own, stick around, but there will be spoilers from Firefly Lane.

And so everybody comes together around Tully’s hospital bed, and we go back and relive the events of Firefly Lane and then the last four years from Johnny’s point of view, Mara’s point of view, and Tully’s point of view. Tully Hart has always been larger than life, a woman fueled by big dreams and driven by memories of a painful past.
