My question is: Who does turn their PC off pressing the button ??? I havent pressed that button for years, i use "shut down" in Windows menu. When using hibernation, the resume process is slower than sleep, but it helps you conserve more battery. The 'high' wire is connected to the collector and the ground wire is connected to the emitter of the transistor. (emitter & collector connections corrected - thanks to cosax for pointing this out). The circuit consists of the gpio pin connected to the base of the transistor through a 2K2 resistor and a 10K resistor connected between the base and ground. The 10K resistor ensures that the transistor is non-conducting, until the gpio is pulled high.
