About this deal

The film contains a multitude of sequences that take place in low/limited lighting, and the increased dimension in blacks and shadows enhances depth of field. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience.

Morbius comes to Blu-ray Disc from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment featuring 1080p AVC encoded video and lossless DTS-HD 5. It’s nice to see some of the film’s marketing materials included, which most studios fail to do these days for home video releases of new films, but even a commentary would have sufficed as a proper extra. comprehensive and fluid in design and output here on the Blu-ray, with seamless depth, movement, and stability. With financial backing from his childhood friend Milo (Matt Smith), also afflicted with the same disease, and assistance from fellow doctor Martine (Adria Arjona), Morbius creates a serum that combines human and vampire bat DNA (the reason is never exactly clear) to ultimately cure the disease. Both of these come very early on in those, so you can switch off after the second as there's nothing right at the end.

With Sam Raimi's horror-comedy Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU stepped into a much larger realm of different genres instead of sticking with the same formulaic product that everyone has come to love and respect from Marvel. Whether you're looking for a newly released movie, a TV box set, or even a classic film - you'll find what you need in our categories. Unless you are completely brain dead, it comes as no surprise that when Milo finds out about the serum, he ends up taking it against Morbius’ recommendations, and eventually pits the two “brothers” against one another and Milo goes on a killing spree through Manhattan, initially framing Morbius with two detectives, Agents Stroud (Tyrese Gibson) and Rodriguez (Al Madrigal), hot on his tail. Morbius is included on Blu-ray in a blue amaray case with DVD copy of the film and a Digital code on a paper insert within the package, all housed in a slipcover replicating the insert artwork.

After the initial reviews/reactions I opted to skip it in the theater and wait for it to come to home video. The action is nothing original but, gets the job done and, the production elements are about what you’d expect, meaning generally excellent. The Earth and sepia tones seen in the opening in the forest and, flashback sequence to the hospital in Greece, are rendered beautifully. But the simple fact that even the standard 4K Blu-ray comes with Dolby Vision when bought from Zavvi, makes this not so much a useless purchase as a vanity one.

The result is not a good time on the surface, but deep below their serious take and on-the-nose approach is something so otherworldly funny and absurd that the film Morbs into a ridiculous extravaganza that is perfectly made for midnight showings for years to come.

The detail is always sharp and vivid, but when the CGI comes to play in the darker sequences, the detail in those special effects can be a little soft.

It should also be noted that an additional featurette mentioned in the press release, Living Vampire from Comics to Screen, appears to have been nixed (or simply retitled). He eventually begins conducting secret, illegal experiments with vampire bats, making himself a guinea pig for testing. One makes use of darker/monochromatic color schemes, while the other features richer contrast and vibrant colors emboldened by warm accents.

This is done well and creates a tangible level of immersion that coincides with the onscreen events nicely. But most of the time, the film utilizes those colder color palettes to promote its cold-blood style.
