There are some heavy themes that are dealt with, with such elegance and suspense that I really enjoyed this as a read and I was also really happy how the author portrayed all these thematic elements into one. Some unfortunate victim, somewhere might read this and find courage to save herself like Iris and you would have accomplished your mission.

I have read Book three HOOK SHOT which is Lotus's story, Iris's cousin and when I read that I was eager to know Iris's story. I signed up for the "bonus epilogue" that's to be released in April, but I'm really frustrated that I had to. The amount of times "He got the girl" was mentioned in different ways actually made me want to stop reading because firstly, a girl is not something you 'get'. A journey of girl trying to raise herself with hopes and dreams in her eyes, wings stretching just to take flight when EVERYTHING in her life just comes go a standstill.

Their chemistry was cosmic in nature, capturing the universe in its grasp and making the skies light up each time they crashed into each other with explosive force.This book did open some wounds for me, the ones I left behind long ago, but it definitely strengthened my belief in women being the stronger sex, esp when they have their backs to the wall and their kids hiding behind them. The topics of her books aren’t always easy, and this book had some especially brutal scenes involving domestic violence/rape. But a chance meeting with August West, a fellow rival of Caleb’s, changes something in life’s cosmic plan. Long Shot is brutal, raw and heartbreaking but it has to be cause it’s the truth given the topics this book centers around. I think so many people need to read this and give it a chance because Long Shot is a whole new ball game.
