I've been working on Japanese motorcycles for nearly 4 decades and IMO, the old style JIS drivers fit and work better than the new 5260. The Bad news: it’s not simple figuring those out, and trying one out is often the only really safe way to confirm eventually. Then comes some history and standards explanation (including JIS) to provide a universal way of recognizing the good, well-fitting screwdrivers – and clarify what it’s all about.

As far as screwdrivers, I have mostly used SnapOn tools, as well as Wera and Wiha – all top stuff, and I was very happy – until I bought a Vessel ball head screwdriver. As others have said, it's not ideal when you compare true JIS drivers and how they fit to others that are newer since the JIS standard was absorbed. JIS, or Japanese Industry Standard screws are just different enough in shape that Phillips drivers will not fit well and slip/strip them. I have both and they are all very good, though I have no tried to 'torq out' a JIS screw with a Wiha marked Philips, to test the utility.it'd be nicer to have bits for my drill that are JIS spec so I can quickly remove these fasteners instead of using standard phillips bits.
