About this deal

Jacky Daydream is an autobiographical book about Jacqueline Wilson's childhood, first published in 2007. The book reveals that she failed the 11-plus the first time she sat the exams, as she had a terrible cold.

The teacher, Mr Branson (who the children nicknamed Brandy Balls) would give all the children nicknames according to their character; initially he rather cruelly dubbed her "Jacky Four-eyes" when she came to school in glasses, subsequently he named her "Jacky Daydream" for staring out of the window during maths, a subject she hated. Jacqueline has won the prestigious Smarties Prize and the Children's Book Award for DOUBLE ACT, which was also highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. He has won numerous awards for his picture books, including the Sheffield Children's Book Award and the 2001 Children's Book Award. From the very first story she wrote, "Meet the Maggots", it was clear that this little girl had a very vivid imagination. In 2002 Jacqueline was awarded the OBE for services to literacy in schools and from 2005 to 2007 she was the Children’s Laureate.I also was really intresed to see that some of the things in her books she has expirenced to for example her best friend’s mum has cancer just like Jayni’s mum in Lola Rose, also that she used to play with paper dolls when she was a child just like april in dustbin baby. Most of you liked the book, Jacky Daydream and rated it 5 stars well this book wasnt for me, it just wasnt my cup of tea.

Lots of Jacqueline Wilson's characters are well-known and well-loved by thousands of readers: Hetty Feather, Ruby and Garnet, Pearl and Jodie, Elsa, Lily and, of course, the brilliant Tracy Beaker! Because the story of Jacqueline Wilson of course doesn't end when she finishes primary school and knows she will be an author some day. In this auto-biography about her you find out about her teachers, schools, parents, outings, holidays and friends. And in JW's case her childhood really is the most relevant part of her life, since that's where she gets her inspiration for her books. As the fourth Children's Laureate (2005-2007) she promoted the importance of sharing books, and reading aloud together. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I enjoyed learning about the life of Jacqueline Wilson and think that the incorporation of her novels and characters into her own story’s as amazing!
