About this deal

Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. In the book, we’re told that both main characters have hard family situations, but we never get to see much of that.

Her success was so overly looked, she won, she played she was involved and they overlooked her like she was nothing. There were a few missing words here and there and a couple times where the main character is talking to a friend and who that friend is changes throughout the scene.

I mean, yes, I knew what was going to happen all along, but jeez, I had no right being this entertained while reading about some small town football rivalry. And this is a very different take on several old tropes; Coaches daughter, secret girlfriend and enemies to lovers. I don't read a lot of YA anymore and there were a lot of situations in this book that reminded me why I don't, but despite that, I liked Wes and Maeve's relationship and there was a lot of cuteness.

They confided in each other about the ways of the world, about the issues they faced, and I think if they had been any different in their characters their roles, they never would’ve shared it. This book reminded me of the Off-Campus series, but much milder sex scenes - which really isn’t a bad thing at all! He’s the first person to see her as Maeve and not a Stevens, Coach Stevens’ daughter or Liam Stevens’ sister. Partly because I’ve never been in one, and mostly because whatever Maeve and I have defies the norms of what any rational person would consider to be one.

So, while it wasn't all that dramatic in pulling out the emotional punches, it was still a decent enough read. It wasn't that bad, per se, but the rival angle seemed a bit of a stretch, because while the couple's relationship was a secret, due to the rivalry and enmity between their two respective schools, the resolution of said conflict was rather softly-handled.
