About this deal

If the leaf has a short stem, as is the case with African violets, dip the stem in rooting hormone and plant it in the potting soil just like you do with stem cuttings, by sinking the stem up to the leaf into the potting mix. This is a reliable and inexpensive way to propagate your favorite plants and the best way to grow new difficult-to-propagate plants.

Rooting powders often also contain cytokinins (another plant growth hormone), fungicides, and other chemicals, which reduce the risk of the plants succumbing to fungal infections. The ends of a cutting are dipped into the substance before those cuttings are planted into the ground or into pots. The root will develop quicker and will be of better quality than when rooting hormones are not used.

Wherever possible we will ensure that you are completely satisfied with the item purchased and in the case of faulty or unsatisfactory goods, will repair, replace, or offer a refund as quickly and efficiently as possible. But never give a new or established plant too much rooting hormone or it can damage the root system. Some plants, however, are more of a challenge and so will not be as easy to propagate without using one at all.

Shake off excess water then dip prepared cutting 25mm (1 inch) into powder, shake off excess, plant at once into a hole in the growing media or propagating plug. That said, there are organic rooting powders available – these contain naturally occurring auxins, so do seek out these products if avoiding synthetic chemicals is important for you.For best results when using this product, stand soft stem cuttings in water for ½ an hour before using the powder. We will be serving our new full menu very soon which will have some new additions as well as our classic favourites. Dip the tips of your cutting into the powder to kickstart the rooting process, and insert into a suitable free-draining compost or rooting medium. It's best to use powders and gels as it's possible to damage the cuttings if you accidentally use too much of the rooting liquid. It is easy to use and helps from new roots on cuttings and graftings from soft, semi-hard and hardwood plants. If you're an organic gardener, you may not want to use synthetic rooting hormones as they're artificially made and contain fungicides. Stick the cutting into a pre-made hole in moist potting compost, preferably around the edge of the pot, where soil evaporation is at its lowest.Prevent evaporation from the leaves by creating a humid environment, either by placing the cuttings in a propagator or fixing a clear plastic bag around the pot to lock moisture in.
