About this deal

One of the most responsible things we can do as a company is giving clothes a second life by repairing them. To resolve your query efficiently we use a claim form and case / ticket system, complete the form, add all the details required, and we'll get straight on to sorting it out. Since Osprey was founded in 1974, every single product design has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, who created his first backpack at age 16. I can put everything valuable in that day pack and not worry about being robbed back in a hotel or hostel I am staying. It was not made of the toughest fabrics, but they were more than adequate for travel and backpacking use, while remaining lightweight and supple for extended carrying times and odd shaped loads (like what you might take for a few days of backpacking).

I personally prefer the Osprey Daylite Plus because it has more compartments, a more padded back, and it’s compatible with Osprey’s bladder system for hikers. Overall, the experience of carrying this pack isn’t very minimalistic, but Osprey gear isn’t known for that.

Because of such front-loading, you can quickly grab something you like instead of unpacking and packing again with the top-opening backpack. The only reason I haven’t is that the material is so high-quality the hole hasn’t grown at all in two years and I forget it’s there! This does take up space you could use to stow gear, but they make finding your gear much more manageable. The Farpoint 55 Trek is ideal if you’re looking for a bag that you can use for travel and potentially for trekking as well.

This makes using the pack simple because there isn’t too much to bog you down, but some users may miss external travel water bottle pockets and other features. I can’t tell if my mind is soup from reading so many reviews in the last 42 hours, or if it was indeed changed with the newly released line. This gives you the advantage of being able to access the contents of your backpack without having to pull everything out to find something.

The Farpoint 55 itself is 3 cm deeper than Ryanair allows but I am pretty positive and relaxed that I will have no problems since there still are the compressions straps. There are two gaps in the daypack that you can loop these through, ensuring the two packs are securely stuck together. The LightWire Frame suspension of the main pack is as comfortable as many of Osprey's backpacking and climbing packs. It used to be that the Farpoint 55 wasn’t carry-on compliant and it had some other points against it that made it a less attractive option, but now they are much more of a match. I may be set on the 55 Trek plus a Daylite (for day trips and carry-on) without having to pack so minimalist to feel like I’m ill-prepared (or not have space for the wife’s overflow items).
