I smell feelings and memories of things I never experienced yet I'm tricked to believe they're mine - a benevolent aura layers me with human affection. i really want this one , but and there is a big but, i do get the spice at the beginning and then the leather and once it's settled it is glorious for like a good 5 minutes and then is gone this in less than an hour. Violet and leather are the most dominant accords to my nose, followed by peony, pink pepper and white musk.

It is feminine, but it could definitely be unissex, thanks to the combination of floral and leathery notes. It’s a long lasting perfume, and pink pepper makes the fragrance more sexy and mysterious, but I would suggest it as a fall/winter perfume. The rocks are placed on skin, steam rises, warm at first, then in the metamorphosis from liquid to air, the steam shifts from hot to cold in wonderful, refreshing way.

Perhaps a sense of tension in the air, or swirling dust motes that suggest recent movement, or people breathing a bit harder than they should? Perfumes are often designed with top, middle and base notes, and designed to smell different based on the time after application. Alaia did become warmer as the aquatic notes and musk developed and, thankfully, pushed the peppery sharpness into the background.

I love the Blanche version from this line and although the Alaia DNA is in both (I get a hint towards the Blanche when I wear this and wish it would transform into it) the mountain air stands out as chilling, versus the soft enveloping powder of Blanche; and the flowers in this somehow combine to smell like a berry-peach-grape mixture of sorts that is sweet but taut. I wish I was getting some of the sweetness that people were talking about, but alas, all I get is leather on me.A 5ml sample of Alaia greeted me when we came home and now this fresh scent reminds me distinctly of the pine and wilderness of Mammoth. In fact this is a sensual aquatic centered on rose with pepper and surrounded by mild musks and aqua or melony notes. The leather is brief and not too pronounced and there is a lovely sweet rose note in the composition. You can genuinely smell that Azzedine Alaïa himself was deeply involved with the creation of this eau de parfum.
