About this deal

Like the U8K, this model has a very wide color gamut, so it's vibrant and colorful. It also has equally good image processing, which is very welcome for this mid-range model. Plus, it is compatible with both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, with the same DTS advanced audio format support as the more expensive Hisense, making this TV one of the cheapest home entertainment-ready TVs you can get. Supporting all the latest formats of HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ and HLG, images are brighter and more detailed with enhanced contrast levels. A Wide Colour Gamut brings a wider pallet of colours to life. Only vivid yet authentic colours are produced, so you’ll view images closer to the real world. Plus, you’ll get an enhanced experience with IMAX’s signature picture, sound, and scale in the comfort of your own home.

Ultimately, it's another year where, on paper, Hisense's TVs should be every bit as good as the brands people are used to seeing excel. We're always optimistic and we want cheaper TVs to succeed, but Hisense has burned us before... With its bright, daylight-friendly picture, the U8H is a great option for sports viewing. When I streamed an Athletic Club vs Almeria soccer match on ESPN+, the set’s impressive motion handling ensured that details in the image remained solid, even with players running across the field and fans waving large flags. One bit of related advice: do not turn on the Motion Clearness setting for sports viewing. This setting served to effectively halve the set’s brightness while not offering up any visible motion resolution benefit. It's alsoan excellent TV forgaming due to its very goodmotion handling, so there's very little blur behind fast-moving objects. It has HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two of its HDMI ports, meaning it can take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles and even high-end PCs with up to 4k @ 144Hz support. Finally, it has low input lag and supports every variable refresh rate (VRR)technology, ensuring a responsive, nearly tear-free gaming experience. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits)Central support under the TV keeps it stable, and allows the TV to rotate at an angle of 25 degrees One possible reason could be that Hisense is simply taking a bigger hit on its profits. Its TVs could cost the roughly the same to manufacture as everyone else's but its mark-up is smaller. Hisense is an enormous company that makes more than just TVs. It may be happy to turn a bigger profit in its other product areas while it makes a name for itself in TVs. Otherwise, it has features you don't normally find on TVs at this price range. It has VRR support, although over the narrow 48-60Hz range. It doesn't support HDR10+ like the more expensive models, but it does have Dolby Vision, which is more widespread. It doesn't support advanced DTS audio formats, but it does support DTS 5.1 over ARC. It has good response time and superbly low input lag, so it's a decent gaming TV overall. Ultimately, this is the best cheap TV on the market, and it's almost as good as the more expensive U6K. Hisense could also be spending less on R&D and tuning its TVs. It's not like all these brands put a few components in a thin plastic case and ship them all over the world. Each TV goes through tuning and quality control to make sure the picture and sound look as a good as possible. This is expensive and time-consuming, but how expensive and time-consuming really depends. Hisense could keep costs down by spending less time on this important step. Total 4K solution immerses you in breath-taking detail, offering 4 x more pixels than Full HD. The UHD AI Upscaler enhances non-4K signals to achieve near-4K resolution that results in powerful details. Dolby Vision IQ delivers an adaptive and breathtaking HDR watching experience, based on the content and lighting condition. Ultra Motion can provide remarkably clear and fluid images with native 120Hz refresh rate. It has Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, as well as advanced DTS audio format support, but its low-quality content smoothing is poor, so it isn't as good for a home entertainment center as the higher-end models. Still, it's cheaper than the other TVs, and for the price, it's one of the best budget models currently on the market. If you're not looking for high-end performance or features, you'll be very satisfied with the U6. Hisense’s picture presets cover Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ certification (despite what the box says, it’s not HDR10+ Adaptive), IMAX Enhanced and Filmmaker mode. Filmmaker is only selectable over HDMI and not with Prime Video. There are currently no Filmmaker mode 4K Blu-rays, so consider it future-proofing in case they do arrive. Picture QualityWe haven't tested any of Hisense's 2023 TVs yet, which have a focus on Mini LED displays, but we will update this article when we do. Hopefully Hisense can continue to close the gap between it and its rivals. The Google TV smart interface offers customization options and can sync up with other Google services for personalized recommendations. (Image credit: Future) Hisense U8H review: smart TV & menus Hisense's prices are lower and its average score is lower, but averages don't always tell the whole story. Watching football with the Sports mode, it comes across like an amorphous blob, the fake crowd noise not helping the overall flatness to the point where it’s difficult to decipher everything the commentators are saying. Their voices rarely sit above the crowd noises. It does, at least, refrain from harsh or shrill tones.
