Sunday 17th Club Run and Abingdon Freewheeling

A good turnout – close to 20 again – and a good ride, I thought.

A loop to the west of Kingston-Bag, then via BesselsLeigh & Radley to Abingdon Market Square. Just the one climb – the brutish one to Boars Hill.

Abingdon Market Square was heaving with cyclists of various experience, size, shape and steed – it was standing room only. I managed to dodge the bloke with the microphone and PA, but I think TonyS might have given a short interview.

Well done for Emily, Peter and the rest of Abingdon Freewheeling for getting so many people out on bikes, i heard there were over 200 on the various led rides, slightly up on 2010.

As i expected (with a cafe stop so close to home), we fragmented for the ride home. I led a plucky trio on a Tour De Didcot via Rowstock and Blewbury. another lot headed off over Culham Bridge, and the Scanlans took a brave party down the Sustrans route!

Hope you all had fun – be warned, I’ll be recruiting ride leaders for the next quarter, so check those diaries …
