Shortly afterwards, Vek was taken to Nox by a fail-safe device in the Deathlords' ship when he tried to use it to rescue the Space Shuttle. He convinced the Council that the death judgement was wrong and to lift the sentence of death from Earth; however his crimes against Nox meant he was returned to Earth in exile. [13] As protector of Earth, Vek repelled the Gemini Plague, genetically engineered parasitic insects used by the robotic Populators of Pollux to wipe out a planet's higher lifeforms in advance for use as a breeding ground [14] [15] He also hosted "The Doomlord Show", where he would kidnap various public figures, connect them to an electrified lie detector to reveal criminal or unethical behaviour, punish criminals with political connections who could avoid conventional justice, and even respond to phoned-in personal grievances, as he could teleport directly there and employ intimidation. [16] [17] He also dealt with the inadvertent revival of Zyn through stored tissue samples from Howard Harvey; Zyn resumed his attempts to execute humanity until Vek absorbed his life-force. [18] Doomlord’s enduring popularity with many British comic fans prompted Green Lantern and Wonder Woman artist Liam Sharp to create this stunning cover for an Eagle Flies Again special edition a few years ago. I used a VHS player to record the final result into a VHS tape. Every single detail was meticulously reproduced, from the elaborate alien cloak to even the vintage British telephone shown. I inserted real 1982-83 London footage, and some from some shows of the time, into my shots.

Doomlord: Deathlords of Nox is a restored collection of a major early Doomlord arc that synopsises the first 3 Doomlord photo stories. They left it very much to me. All that sort of thing was very Seventies – the high boots and the tight clothes. It was influenced by the fashion of the times.” While the Eagle photo strips are fondly remembered, they proved more expensive to produce than traditional comic art and, over time, disappeared from the weekly comic. Fleetway abandoned its attempt at publishing science fiction horror in fumetti form, in favour of commissioning Heinzl (in 1983 – 1984) followed by Eric Bradbury (1984 – 1989). Martin [Landau] was captured by these women and we made his costume based on theirs, with the same sort of feel with the gold leather bits on it. He looked excellent in that. Having done the designs, all the women had to be chosen with superb figures, and we even got a feature in the Daily Mirror saying that these women were going to be the sexiest on television.”

I mean, did you just use spare parts from here and there, or did you have a clear idea on mind? Doomlord is a fan favourite today, among readrs and comic creators, including Liam Sharp, who drew this stunning portrait for the fanzine, Eagle Flies Again. Humongous update to items today, with auction items, equipment for pets, relics, boots and [[spells] completed up to level 100. All that's left are: focus crystals, reformatting the epic relics, dimension gate relics, essences and compiling the adventure items. Phew! The costume design on that episode (and others) was the work of Emma Porteous. Interestingly, she ended up working on costumes on the 1995 Judge Dredd film (alongside Gianni Versace, credited with the Dredd armour design), Clash of the Titans (1981) and some Bond films.
