About this deal

The phone’s Vivid mode, on the other hand, is much less subdued, with Huawei instead boosting the saturation of colours to an eye-straining degree. It’s not the nicest thing to look at, so it’s definitely worth switching to Normal mode as soon as you get the chance.

The screen on the Huawei P50 Pro is 6.6 inches in size with a resolution of 1228 x 2700 with a pixel density of 450ppi. For comparison the Samsung S21 Ultra comes in at 1440 x 3200 for 515ppi and the iPhone 13 Pro Max at 1284 x 2778 for 458ppi. Don’t get too wrapped up in the numbers though – all these phones have very high-resolution screens that look sharp. Ultimately, it’s a bold choice opting for either of these phones with no Google Play support. But if you’re hungering for something a little different from the usual brands, and money is no object, then the P50 Pro gets the nod. Zoom range is the maximum zoom ratio divided by the ultra wide-angle magnification. The focal lengths on HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro are 24 mm (ultra-aperture camera), 13 mm (ultra-wide angle camera), and 90 mm (telephoto camera). Smartwatch: requires a) Vodafone pay monthly Airtime plan, and b) 12 or 24 month Connectivity Plan (via Vodafone OneNumber). Watch Plans over 12 months require a 24 month Connectivity Plan. Terms apply So what about the chipset? In the Huawei P50 it's the Snapdragon 888, the top-end processor available to Android phones – but with one change. It's a 4G version, so neither the Huawei P50 or P50 Pro let you connect to 5G networks.

Product size, product weight, and related specifications are theoretical values only. Actual measurements between individual products may vary. All specifications are subject to the actual product. We saw Chinese and French in the Wallet app, and Huawei Books is problematic at best, with its recommendation to read books like ‘ CEO Daddy, Don’t Be Angry’, ‘Arrogant Wife, Don’t Run Away’, and ‘Ex-Daddy, Don’t be too Scheming’, in addition to a host of raunchy-covered alternatives. The Huawei P50 Pro is clearly a better phone than its predecessor, the Huawei P40 Pro. It has a more appealing design, stereo sound, superior power, faster charging, and a more fluid design. Graphics processing is equally good. Pushing out an average frame rate of 78fps in the GFXBench Manhattan 3 onscreen test (at native resolution), the embedded Adreno 660 GPU works nicely with the phone’s high refresh display.

Lasting 16hrs 47mins in our video rundown test at native 120Hz, last year’s model beats the P50 Pro by almost five hours in the same test. Drop the refresh rate to 60Hz and enable the “Smart Resolution” setting and you can almost squeeze out an extra two hours on a single charge (19hrs 39mins), but whichever setting you go for, neither result is particularly great. Huawei P50 Pro review: Software Like all other flagship phones, the Huawei P50 Pro proved to be extremely smooth and zippy in day-to-day use. The phone scored 3018 in Geekbench 5, which is pretty much around what other Snapdragon 888-based phones have scored. Roaming: using your home data plan to roam in Zone A is included in all of our Pay Monthly plans. For roaming in other destinations, charges will apply depending on which plan you are on. Huawei’s ultra-wide camera doubles up as a macro camera for super close-up shots, while also grabbing entire scenes at an expansive 13mm focal length. It does a great job in well-lit environments, though falls down in the dark, even with night mode fired up. Then there’s gaming. The game selection available in the Huawei AppGallery is poor compared to the App Store and Play Store, but when we tried one of the native AppGallery games out – Brain Test, adverts in the game directed us to the Google Play Store. This year, the size of the P50 Pro’s battery has increased from 4,200mAh to 4,360mAh, although as you can see from the graph below, in testing it’s actually taken a significant battery life hit. Colour levels can also be subdued or boosted with "normal" or "vivid" settings but you get dazzling quality regardless of which option you select. Under the vivid setting, the display scored 100% for sRGB colour coverage (and 143.5% for volume) which is a percentage above the 99% scored by the Samsung S21 Ultra. That quality was very much apparent in day to day use, as we enjoyed a crisp and colourful display. What's more, its brightness peaked at 532 cd/m2 which not only looks good on paper, it was more than adequate for almost all weather conditions the UK could muster. Huawei P50 Pro review: Specs and performance A spokesperson for Huawei told TechRadar, "For reasons that are known to everyone, Huawei is left with no option but launch 4G variants for Huawei P50 Series." W is the maximum charging power, and can only be reached when the dedicated 66 W HUAWEI SuperCharge charger and cable are used. There are a number of reasons for the delay, including the global semiconductor shortage, which might also be the reason the handset is only 4G-enabled. But was it worth the wait? For Smartwatches: lets you select a monthly Device Plan Credit Agreement (over 3-36 months) with a monthly Connectivity Plan. Watch Plans over 12 months require a 24 month Connectivity Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can keep your Connectivity Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Connectivity Plan ends, the Device Plan is still payable (either in full or monthly). Watch Plans require a Vodafone pay monthly airtime plan and a Connectivity Plan (via Vodafone OneNumber) Typical value. The Battery Rated Capacity is 4,260 mAh. Based on results from HUAWEI Lab tests. Actual battery life depends on actual usage conditions. Fingerprint(Under Display, Optical), Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, Compass, barometer, color spectrum This translates to around 6-7 hours of screen-on time before you need to juice up your phone. If you’re a heavy user who’s constantly online, using the GPS and taking pictures and videos, screen-on time may dip below six hours, and a recharge might be necessary before the end of the day.

Neither of these phones has a particularly huge battery by modern standards. The Huawei P50 Pro has the larger cell of the two at 4,360mAh, while the Huawei P40 Pro's battery is a mere 4,200mAh. This all means that the P50 Pro is a serious hardware treat with some massive experience clangers, despite Huawei’s best efforts.

The Huawei P50 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset found in most of last year’s flagship phones of last year, with one omission: it only comes with an LTE/4G connectivity. You must have a 5G enabled device on the Vodafone 5G network, a Vodafone 5G plan and 5G coverage in the area that you are in. Coverage may be affected by a number of factors.
