That first day we took her to the park and played on the swings, we fed the ducks and then came home and played with her toys. After Lisa had an ectopic pregnancy, she tried many things after to conceive again but sadly she failed to get pregnant. From the moment I heard Lisa talking to Chris Evans on Virgin Radio, I knew I needed to read this book. I knew these small things were like a lighthouse to her in a stormy sea, making her feel as safe as she could and guiding her home.

Over two years, my then-partner Chris and I went from trying to get pregnant naturally to having our fertility tested (everything looked normal) and going through IVF three times. This is not a book for the faint hearted,I can relate to her story as I have been through the pain of conceiving as a parent. However, Chris and I get on better now than we ever did, I’ve recently married chef John Torode and we all parent together.The social workers (ours and Billie’s) met with us to go through what had been happening and to raise any pressing points or questions they needed to ask. All the experiences are so well written and I’ve found this to be a very therapeutic and uplifting book as I too parent plus. It was just a bag, but I had really wanted to use it; filling it with nappies, wipes, a change of clothes, snacks and a book had brought me so much joy.

Thank you Lisa for being so honest with your experience, this book really helped me and I related to everything she went through with ivf. It was so easy to empathise with her on her journey to motherhood and she describes what she went through to get there in an easy to understand but well written way.I found myself drawn to it all given that I can relate to the very early stages of Lisa’s desire to want a baby.
