About this deal

Production in 1905 and 1906 were all single-cylinder models with 26.84-cubic-inch (440cc) engines. In February 1907, they displayed a prototype model at the Chicago Automobile Show with a 45-degree V-Twin engine. Very few V-Twin models were built between 1907 and 1910. These first V-Twins displaced 53.68 cubic inches (880cc) and produced about 7 horsepower (5.2kW). This gave about double the power of the first singles, and top speed was about 60mph (100km/h). Production jumped from 450 motorcycles in 1908 to 1,149 machines in 1909. [15] Harley-Davidson works in 1911 The Street 750 uses an all-new, liquid-cooled, 60° V-twin engine called the Revolution X. In the Street 750, the engine displaces 749cc (45.7cuin) and produces 65Nm at 4,000rpm. A six speed transmission is used. [154]

Greg Field (2001). Harley-Davidson Evolution Motorcycles. Motorbooks. p.33. ISBN 978-0-7603-0500-3. On paper, the headline figure of 'just' 93bhp for an 1800cc, 317Kg bike seems woefully inadequate, but once you see the massive torque figure of 155Nm, and armed with some understanding of the relationship between power, torque and revs, it all begins to make sense. The Revolution engine is based on the VR-1000 Superbike race program, developed by Harley-Davidson's Powertrain Engineering with Porsche helping to make the engine suitable for street use. It is a liquid cooled, dual overhead cam, internally counterbalanced 60degree V-twin engine with a displacement of 69cubicinch (1,130cc), producing 115hp (86kW) at 8,250rpm at the crank, with a redline of 9,000rpm. [126] [127] It was introduced for the new VRSC (V-Rod) line in 2001 for the 2002 model year, starting with the single VRSCA (V-Twin Racing Street Custom) model. [128] [129] The Revolution marks Harley's first collaboration with Porsche since the V4 Nova project, which, like the V-Rod, was a radical departure from Harley's traditional lineup until it was cancelled by AMF in 1981 in favor of the Evolution engine. [130] The classic Harley-Davidson engines are V-twin engines, with a 45° angle between the cylinders. The crankshaft has a single pin, and both pistons are connected to this pin through their connecting rods. [5]Established in 1918, the oldest continuously operating Harley-Davidson dealership outside of the United States is in Australia. [13] Sales in Japan started in 1912 [13] then in 1929, Harley-Davidsons were produced in Japan under license to the company Rikuo (Rikuo Internal Combustion Company) [80] under the name of Harley-Davidson and using the company's tooling, and later under the name Rikuo. Production continued until 1958. [81] [82] In short, high mileage doesn’t always mean a Fat Boy is at the end of its life, but it could mean you score a Fat Boy that’ll last for years for cheap. What are the Best Model Years to Buy and Avoid? Best Year: 2022, 1990 As part of war reparations, Harley-Davidson acquired the design of a small German motorcycle, the DKW RT 125, which they adapted, manufactured, and sold from 1948 to 1966. This 45° angle is covered under several United States patents and is an engineering tradeoff that allows a large, high-torque engine in a relatively small space. It causes the cylinders to fire at uneven intervals and produces the choppy "potato-potato" sound so strongly linked to the Harley-Davidson brand.Frank, Aaron (July 2008). As soon as you sit on the Fat Boy, you know you're in for a comfortable ride. The wide seat, wide handlebars, low seat position, feet forward controls and relaxed engine all make the Fat Boy a very nice place to be. While the wide tyres may make the handling that bit heavier, the effect they have on the plush ride is self-evident. They say the bike may have been styled on a steamroller and I think that also translates into the ride – never have Cambridgeshire's roads felt to smooth and pot-hole free. I was quite expecting to see cars following close behind, benefitting from the freshly flattened road in the wake in the Fat Boy. union workers strike Harley-Davidson". United Press International.
