Fairmile TT Results – Thursday 31st May

A massive thanks to the hardy TT helpers on what turned out to be a wet night on the Fairmile CC241 course.
The TT started dry but very quickly turned wet after the first mile out of Cholsey and onto the Wallngford by-pass.
Tom Burney (Thames Velo) recorded 23m09s for 1st with clubmen Martin Stanley 2nd just 4 seconds back and Sam Boulton 3rd.

Next week sees us return to Southmoor for the Club 10 mile Championships on the H10/17r course, first rider off at 19:31. We still need a start timekeeper, and pusher please email timetrials@didcotphoenix.co.uk to volunteer.

Southmoor H10/17r TT Results – Thursday 10th May

A slow start to the evening (the less said about that the better, eh, Paul Demicoli) did not prevent some fast times, with a number of all time and course PBs on the Southmoor H10/17r TT course. Richard Gildea scraped under 20 minutes by the thinnest of margins (19m59s) to take the win, with Tim Allen close behind with a time of 20m12s, and Henry Latimer in 3rd place with a time of 20m32s. Congratulations to Jonny Garrow (22m21s), Ed Dupee (23m18s) and Simon Evans (23m46s) who achieved all time PBs! Thanks to all TT helpers and timekeepers.
Next week sees us return to the more rural roads of the CC271 West Hanney course, first rider off at 19:16. We still need a finish timekeeper and pusher, please email timetrials@didcotphoenix.co.uk to volunteer.

TT results 3rd May – Stadhampton

Some good weather saw a bumper turnout on the CC118 Stadhampton course. Mark Cox (Fairly united CT) was well under 22 minutes for first spot, with Hefin Jones just over 22 mins for 2nd and Tim Allen (Spirit Tifosi RT) and Pete Oliver (Fairly united CT) tied for 3rd with 22m 43s.

Next week we make our first visit of the year to Southmoor and still require a number volunteers. Can you help?

Racing roundup – 29th April

Cold and windy weather did not slow down Didcot’s hardy time triallers this weekend. An early morning in the Westerly CC event on the Marlow H10/22 course saw Chris Boddy take 2nd place with a super fast time of 19:34, with Harri James taking a few more seconds off his PB to take 5th place with a time of 20:21, and Simon Evans also PB’d with a time of 24:27.

New recruits Rob and Ali Vessey represented DPCC at the VTTA national 30 championships down in Ashford, Kent, with Rob continuing his fine run of form to place 23rd (after smashing several minutes off his 25 mile PB last weekend!), and Ali finishing in bronze medal place!

A chilly and windy morning on the Bentley H50/8 course did not prevent Martin Stanley and Anthony Atkin achieving Gold standard at the first time of asking, with times of 1:55:48 and 1:59:24 respectively. Richard Gildea took 5th place overall with a time of 1:43:50 to knock a further 48 seconds off his club record.

Next week (19th April) is our first visit of the year to Stadhampton for our annual Road bike only event, so no TT bikes or aero bars/kit is preferred.

TT results 5th April – West Hanney

Tim Allen (Spirit Tifosi) took the win and set a new course record on the first DPCC club TT of 2018. Paul Lloyd (Fairly United CT) was 2nd, with John Garrow (Abingdon Freewheelers) 3rd.
Thanks to the volunteers for giving up their time, and we still need a number of volunteers to assist with the next TT on the Brightwell course on the 12th of April. Can you help?
