Newbury Cyclocross

There was a good turn out of DPCC riders at the 1st round of the Wessex CX today, with  Pete Warwick, Neil Morris, Nick Druce, Steve Warwick plus Adam G all cycling in the event.

Pete writes, “we all started pretty near the back of the grid. The start was unusually gentlemanly with plenty of room before the first twisty bit. I can t really comment to clearly on the rides of Neil, Nick and Adam as they went flying off into the distance. Me and my bros were always pretty close to each other throughout the race and he just got the better of we at the mid point of the last lap”.

“Newbury did an excellent job with the course. loads of interest, a nice down hill, gravel, a sand trap, and good news, no hurdles”!!!!

“I think the finish order for our boys was Neil, Nick, Adam, Steve W and then Pete W with the lantern rouge”.

Roll on next week.

DPCC Cyclocross – Chiltern Edge School – Help required 26th and 27th November!

Hi All,

DPCC are hosting the annual Cyclocross event on Sunday the 27th November and we urgently need volunteers to help run the event and ensure it is a success.  This event is a huge showcase for Didcot Phoenix, so if you haven’t helped out at one of our events this year, please volunteer for this one!

Location:  Chiltern Edge School, Reades Lane, Sonning Common (near Reading) RG4 9LN

Contact:  Duncan O’Reilly – or 07595454298

Details: Setup will be on Saturday 26th November from 10am and racing starting on Sunday 27th from 11am.  The main race will start at 1pm and the current feeling is that numbers will be so large on the day (Wessex will be using our event as a point scoring round for their league), that seniors and veterans should be divided to make scoring less stressful.

Jobs required:  Marshals, scorers, sign-on team, course layout help.  Full details to be posted shortly.
