About the club runs
Didcot Phoenix have regular Sunday excursions of about 3 hours, maybe a bit longer.
The current meeting/start point is by the Broadway pub. We usually stop about 11:30 for tea & cake. Depending on the weather, peoples’ commitments and route we ride back with the aim to return to Didcot between 12:30 and 13:30.
This can mean 30 to 60 miles avoiding busy roads as far as possible. Computers usually indicate a total ride average of ~16 mph while regularly bowling along at 18 to 20 mph – good conditions can see us crank up to 23-24 mph on occasions. Whenever we get a good turnout we split the group (usually based on speed).
These aim to be more suitable for riders new to group/distance riding. The routes avoid major hills and speeds will be deliberately slower if necessary to ensure nobody gets dropped. If numbers are large enough, the ride will split in to slower and faster groups.

Ride leaders needed! We always need people to lead the rides. You can get in touch via the forum or email. It can be quite nice to choose your favourite caff/route; or to help you we’ve assembled some routes that work well.
If you are under 18, an Event Consent Form must be signed. Please print off a copy of this form and give it to the ride leader.
