Because soaps and detergents can be very damaging to dry, sensitive skin it is important to try to avoid using them where possible. To help you avoid these irritants, the Doublebase range includes some alternative cleansers, which are sometimes referred to as soap substitutes. These clean like soap or shower gel, whilst protecting and moisturising the skin. These are known as emollients. When used as part of your normal showering routine the product helps to: Doublebase Shower and Doublebase Wash should be used to wash with, in the same way as ordinary shower gels and soaps. However, unlike ordinary shower and wash products, Doublebase Shower and Doublebase Wash do not create a foam or lather. Remember, bubbles are not needed to cleanse the skin. Doublebase Shower and Doublebase Wash can also be applied and left on after washing to condition the skin. Doublebase Emollient Wash Gel contains two active ingredients: isopropyl myristate and liquid paraffin.

Washing up liquids also contain harsh detergents and can be very bad for dry skin. Hot water doesn’t help either. Don’t think that this is an excuse for not doing the washing up though - wearing rubber gloves (hypoallergenic ones if possible, or with cotton gloves underneath) can stop skin being affected. This product can also be used before and after washing, showering or having a bath to help condition your skin and stop it from drying further.
