Our ski goggles are equipped with advanced ventilation systems that maintain optimal airflow, preventing condensation and ensuring crystal-clear vision all day long. Removing the lens and reinstalling it requires a little force, and we don’t love that you have to press directly on the lens to push the pins in place, but it’s certainly faster to swap than the standard I/O (the I/O Mag above, however, edges it out). A good lens will be moulded and fused into shape rather than being a flat piece of material flexed around the frame. Also, this is purely a matter of personal preference, but not everyone will be a fan of the framed look.

Optics fall towards the middle of the pack—in favorable conditions and for night skiing, the two included lenses covered the bases, but we found the mirrored option (LumaLens Red Ion) was rather dull and made it hard to pull out small bumps and details in shadowed sections on the hill. Beyond that, these goggles offer the same functionalities as the normal Scott Unlimited II, including Scott’s NoFog treatment, the Optiview dual spherical lens, the ACS ventilating system and many others.Additionally, you get far fewer lens tint and frame color options, which is limiting from both a performance and style perspective. There are many different lens tints available and they are suited to different conditions, from high altitude very bright light, all the way through to very dull and snowy days.

In addition, you miss out on Smith’s ChromaPop lens technology, so the clarity and precision fall well short of the I/O Mag above. This might not only change what size of helmet you purchase, but what style of goggles you pick out because certain designs may not be so compatible. Taken together, the Sync’s long-lasting construction, included back-up lens, and MFI compatibility earn it a midpack ranking on our list. Of note, Anon has released the M5 Goggle for winter 2024, which features a few cosmetic tweaks and a flat toric lens. Smith and Giro have similar magnetic designs that are featured on models like the Smith I/O Mag and Giro Axis, although you’re required to push a button/lever to release the lenses on certain models, which we’ve found to be slightly less convenient but a bit more secure.

They give exceptional peripheral vision for greater awareness on the slope and come in both female and unisex fits. Single-lens goggles are most likely better for beginners who aren’t wanting to invest too much money into their starting equipment.
