About this deal

There’s the same nougat-y texture to the base as in the other bars. It’s smooth and chewy, with the crispies adding a satisfying crunch when you take a bite.

This bar features a peanut butter flavoured base topped with a gooey strawberry layer and spindled with peanut pieces, then coated in milk chocolate. Chocolate orange. You’re either a fan or you can’t stand it. If you’re one of the latter, you’ll be pleased to know that Grenade haven’t gone overboard with the orange flavour here. I was worried the chocolate coating would overpower and detract from the whole ‘PB&J’ feel, but it really doesn’t – the flavours actually blend really well. Thus, on seeing that Grenade had released a PB&J bar, I audibly shrieked with excitement (I never said I was cool). Milk Protein (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Milk Protein Isolate, Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Chocolate With Sweetener (20%) (Cocoa Mass Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Milk Fat, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Vanilla), Bulking Agent; Polydextrose; Gelatine Hydrolysate, Humectant; Glycerol; Soy Protein, Cocoa Butter, Soy Oil, Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder, Sweeteners; Xylitol, Sucralose; Tapioca Starch, Sugar, Flavourings, Salt, Emulsifier; Citric Acid Ester, Soy Lecithin; Colours; Titanium Dioxide, Copper Chlorophyll; Vegetable Oil; Shea Oil, Palm Oil; Natural Peppermint Flavour

How. When. Why.

Inside, it’s the same classic triple-layer bar we’ve come to know and love from Grenade. The base is soft and slightly chewy – a nice chocolate flavour with a hint of mint. The question is, which pin to pull? There are 12 flavours (at the time of writing) and we have 11 of them here for you today… Texture-wise, it’s pretty similar to the other Grenade bar flavours, except the creme offers a smoother, creamier, texture than Grenade’s usual caramel layer and the Oreo pieces are less crunchy than the crispies found on the likes of Caramel Chaos and Jaffa Quake.

Grenade have always done things a little differently, and their branding is no exception, which is perhaps why they are now the most well-known brand on the market. What is Different About Grenade Protein Bars? Like the White Chocolate Salted Peanut, this flavour contains slightly more calories than the earlier bars – 233 calories in this one – and they also contain slightly less protein – 20g compared to 22g in some of the others. It’s a nice, chocolate-y bar but it’s interesting that Grenade decided to come out with this when their Fudge Brownie bar is such a classic. Store at a temperature range of 15°C. to 22°C, away from direct sunlight, extremes of heat change, odour & humidity.EVERY protein bar line has to have some variation on the classic fudge brownie flavour – it’s basically a right of passage at this point. Grenade have followed suit with the third of their Carb Killa flavours, so how does their offering work out? White Chocolate With Sweetener (32%) (Sweetener; Maltitol; Cocoa Butter, Whole Milk Powder, Emulsifier; Soy Lecithin; Natural Flavouring), Protein Blend (Calcium Caseinate (Milk), Whey Protein Isolate (Milk)), Humectant; Glycerol; Hydrolysed Beef Gelatine, Isomalto-oligosaccharide, Roasted Peanuts (7%), Water, Palm Fat, Peanut Paste (2,6%) (Peanut Kernels, Peanut Oil) , Flavouring, Salt, Sweetener; Sucralose

A white chocolate base, a layer of strawberry, crispy pieces and a white chocolate coating – it has all the ingredients to be tooth-achingly sweet. Taking a bite, the overwhelming flavour is strawberry and it’s actually very similar to a McDonald’s strawberry milkshake. It’s definitely an artificial flavour (think strawberries on steroids) but it’s by no means unpleasant.Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar.
