About this deal

First, I want to say that I don’t judge you if you like these books. If you have read this series when you were younger and formed an attachment to them, I understand. We all have our vices. This review is for anyone who has not read them yet—anyone older than 18.

Chiaramente continuerò la lettura solo per Warner e per scoprire cos’è successo mentre Juliette vestiva i soliti panni d’imbranata cronica.

What To Read Next

I am baffled by the fact that people find their relationship romantic. I am deeply saddened by the fact that "broken" characters somehow are given the okay to horrifically damage their partners in the name of love. As if the fact that they love this person makes it okay that they hurt them in these ways. Defy Me: Amazing book! the stories universe just got bigger - literally, they're involving the whole world now. Humor through Kenji, and emotion through Aaron and Juliette or whatever her name is *Wink* - also a very beautiful ending! He is beyond in love with Juliette. It is so special because he is closed off and cold-hearted with everyone else, but with Juliette, he is the definition of the best boyfriend. Ever. He is so passionate it makes me want to scream or cry or laugh or something just thinking about him. Also, I have no doubt whatsoever that he would kill anyone who harms Juliette. He wouldn’t even bat an eye. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shadow Me: Kenji's perspective. The everything-is-cheerful-when-he's-around guy of the series.. has a dark secret?

The plot was predictably unpredictable. It’s the kind of story that thinks too little of its reader. Maybe I’d heard too much about it on Booktok before going into it, but I was s h o c k e d at how terrible the plot was. The writing was creative and easy to get through. I find a lot of books nowadays are hard to digest, I trip over the jagged rises and falls of the sentences, but shatter me wasn’t like that one bit. It was creative without being over the top or superfluous. I also really enjoyed the POV. Basically it was really easy to get inside Juliette’s head and reside their, taking in what she took in how she perceived it. Mafi did a fantastic job at relaying the fact that Juliette is… troubled in the head at the start of the book. the numbers the repetitive thoughts the contradicting thoughts—sometimes all at once—was a very good idea. the crossing out of words/sentences to show how she’s at odds with herself was cool too. I just really liked it. It read fast. It’s original. It reignited a fresh desire in myself to write with creative intent, not just to get the point across. Juliette, one of the main characters and whose point of view is in every book in the series, can fend for herself. Thank god! Juliette knows how to get a job done and doesn’t need someone to constantly swoop down and save her, unlike in a few other series I’ve read. *cough cough* Twilight I know I stopped during the third book, but I wish Juliette’s character development had been better. I wish her change had been more obvious. I wish her arc had been about how touch isn’t the only important thing in life. She was just starting to grow from her old mindset in the third book (due to Warner no doubt) Mafi could have used the people at Omega Point and her problems with Adam to further this—to say: I am powerful and capable and I’ve spent this long fighting for myself, I don’t need to spend entire books stressing about the first guy who liked me. I know that’s kind of Warner’s message to her, but we’re two books in and I’m already bored. The fact that he can touch her and cares about her should have come in later, after she'd delved into this belief for herself. Warner told her everything she needed to be and she did it. She never thought for herself (no, getting angry and yelling when you disagree with something is not thinking for herself). Unravel Me: Kinda hated Juliette in the first half, Kenji is the MVP, Warner is the King, and Adam.. well he threw a bunch of tantrum, and I hayed that too.

And the second character I liked: Kenji. Such a lovely, funny guy who doesn't take anyone's shit. Least of all Juliette's. He was the one who always called her out and helped her grow. I'm very glad they became best friends, they're good for each other. Everything is so dramatic and over the top. The dialogue is repetitive and unnatural as if Mafi didn’t know when to stop. Nothing is left to the reader to imagine for themselves or fill in the gaps. And every time I thought she might be making a redemption, she squashed it by doing exactly the obvious, which also happened to be the dumbest option available. There was no subversion of tropes or plot lines. None.Rip-roaring adventure and steamy romance scenes, with a relationship teens will root for as much as they did for Bella and Edward." -- ALA Booklist Adam was Juliette's only companion in grade school before she was abruptly thrown in the asylum. After some time they're reunited under strained circumstances. He, an undercover agent for the Reestablishment, her, his assignment. She immediately recognizes him, and while he knows full well who she is and she makes him feel can't let her or his superiors know of these feelings. After some time they escape and learn more about each other and themselves than they were prepared for. Causing a strain on their relationship that took them by surprise. Also, so many gifts (or powers or however you want to call it)! Of course Warner's also the coolest in that department. I don't LOVE the writing style, although I believe it got better. I'm not really fond of the crossed words and repetitive words and sentences.

Did not wow me, the plot pulled me in but romance fuels me and I really wasnt feeling adam or warner. Adam was so boring it was deadly, nothing about their relationship was original and he was SO clingy. Warner was the worst person to ever live and when I heard everyone saying he was the 'booktok it boy' I wasnt expecting him to be like.. that. The plot was pretty good, I was pulled in with the main character being seen as 'insane.' There was also some action in this book but not enough to outweight the star-crossed lovers stuff and Juliette's near constand crying and inability to get better (both psychologically and powerwise). Sin da subito ho letto questo romanzo in scioltezza. Anche se lo stile è un po’ troppo artificioso, la storia scorre e non si dilunga. We are so thrilled to present to you… THE SHATTER ME DELUXE SET, brought to you in collaboration with @ tahereh and @ electricmonkeybooks! Her and Warner being inlove, Adam gets his shit together, and the world gets fixed, (Or maybe not). the characters also had a good amount of depth and development, which was really surprising for a ya series that I didn't expect much from.
