Congratulations to Lucy Austin, who took a chunk off the 10-mile TT record to produce 23:48 on a road bike. Sensational stuff, lady. See you at Tring?

Good news! Becoming the fastest Didcot Phoenix rider called Richard has become fractionally easier, as Richard Harrison has been invited to ride amongst the great and the good at drag2zero. He remains the holder of the DPCC 10-mile TT record, with a storming 18:56 achieved on the V718 course last year.
We wish him all the best with his new team. Pop back and see us some Thursday night on the A420, won’t you Rich? We’ll be in the usual lay-by.
Congrats to the 3 hardy club riders who took part in the Reading Open Hill climb, firstly climbing Goring – Crays Pond Hill, followed by Streatley Hill an hour later.
Richard Gildea came 4th overall (first DPCC rider), but more importantly becomes DPCC Hill Climb Champ 2016 and overall club record holder for both hill climbs! Great work Richard!
The last summer club TT of season and an almost perfect night on Fairmile CC241 produced a string of notable rides, with many riders recording PBs and course PBs.
Mark Cox (Fairly United CT) was quickest after taking full advantage of the conditions with a 20m56s ride. This ride being the fastest in our club database for Fairmile, congratulations Mark. Club members Steve Mead (21m57s) and Harri James(22m01s) were 2nd and 3rd, also securing course PBs in the process.
Thanks to the Timekeepers and volunteers for putting on the TT.
Next Thursday see the “fun” Hill climb of Wittenham Hill (if the planned roadworks in the area have completed), volunteers still required.
Richard Gildea took a mighty big chunk off the Club 50 mile TT record on 23rd July on the E2-50 course in Cambridgeshire. Richard clocked an impressive 1h 46s 11s
Congratulations Richard from all in DPCC
There will be an end of TT season social at the Red Lion in Brightwell cum Sotwell on the 18th August 2016 from 8 p.m. onwards, if you would like to come along please take a look at the menu (here) and ring the pub direct to pre-order your food, hope to see you there.
Open 10 mile TT
Our Chairman Mike is organising a Open TT on the popular Witney H10/181 course on Sat 20th August
Follow the link here if you want to Enter, if you are not racing and have some free time, please consider Volunteering.
Club 25 mile TT and Leiden plaque
The date for the club 25 is now fixed on the 4th September on the H25/17 course.
If you intend to ride, you need to pre-register as its a combined event with Oxonian, Oxford City, Bicester Millennium, Banbury Star, and Cowley Road for the Leiden Plaque inter club comp (teams of 4 riders). We have a limit of 20 DPCC riders, so get in quick if you want to participate.
HQ Location – Dry Sandford Community Centre, to be open from 0700. Race starts from 0800.
Post on the forum, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to enter including your age by Saturday 27th August. This will enable CTT standard handicap times to be calculated (for the Leiden plaque) and a start sheet formulated by the organizing Club.
Victoria Lawson has smashed the long standing ladies Club 10 mile TT record on the Liphook P881/10 course with fast 24m 19s. The ride wasn’t smooth sailing, with Vicky suffering a mechanical early on in the ride meaning she had to ride in a single gear!
Congratulations Vicky from all in DPCC!
Congratulations to Richard Gildea who becomes the clubs Hill Climb Champion 2015, Richard finished 3rd overall, with Isaac Mundy (OUCC) taking top spot with last years champion Tim Allen (now RP Racing) in 2nd.
Richard’s time up the Crays Pond Hill is also an unconfirmed Club record!
Thanks to the timekeepers and pusher today, see you all on our next TT on Boxing day.
It was a busy weekend for Didcot Phoenix, with our Open Club 10 attracting a large field of riders and many thanks to all volunteers who helped run the event. It was a successful afternoon on the Witney bypass with Paul Gamlin of Northover Vets Team winning the event in 20:08. First DPCC rider was Steve Mead who had a time of 22:05. Results can be seen via the link below.
In other news, DPCC club member Phil Brown had a cracking ride in Wales beating the current club 25 record with a time of 50:04 and completing the top 10 of this hugely popular event. Congratulations Phil for an amazing time!
Equally fast Richard Harrison was also in action this weekend on the super quick V718 course up in Hull…Richard finished the 10 miles in 19m 46s.
Finally, this coming Sunday is the club Hill Climb Championship. There is a huge trophy up for grabs, but we are still looking for a time keeper to run the event. Please contact email@example.com if you are able to help.
Bye for now,
Sunday 5th July:
8 a.m. : DPCC utilised our friends at Oxonian CC – Open 25 mile TT on the H25/17 course for our club champs. On what was a perfect float morning with not a breath of wind, Steve Mead and Clare Hofmann emerged victorious as Mens and Ladies champions – 2015. Congratulations to Both!
9 a.m.: The ever popular Club run with ~20 members led by Ron and Simon had a great morning ride to Waterperry. For the usual great weekly write up of the club run see our internal forum section here.
11:30 a.m.: 3 plucky DPCC riders were among a strong 80 man peleton in Kirtlington for the latest round of the ORRL hosted by Cowley road Condors. A great event again in perfect conditions, although a non racing incident on the final lap did interfere with the ultimate results, but Sebastian Charlesworth rode his luck and finished in a unconfirmed top 10 place.
Congratulations to Seb and the team.
More photos here.
Finally Richard Harrison took a drive up to to Hull to Ride on the now famous V718 course in a City RC event. Unconfirmed results again, but I hear it may be a new club record for a 10 mile TT in a monster time of 19 minutes 6 seconds. Looking forward to validating that as a club record Richard!
Edit results now confirmed, new club record! Results here and photos of Richard here.
