As we’ve had a few rearrangements recently, mostly (but not entirely) due to the Didcot Darts Team, please see below for the things you’ll want to be doing over the next few weeks/months:
Every first Friday of the month: social gathering in the bar at Boundary Park
AGM: Boundary Park, 7 pm, Thursday 8 Nov – agenda coming soon and please do come and stand for committee positions
Tuesdays from 30 Oct: Turbo nights at Boundary Park. Bring turbo and bike to set up from 6:30, whirring at 7. Tuesday chain-gang will move to Thursdays to accommodate this.
DPCC Cyclocross race: will be held in conjunction with Take3 at Dalton Barracks on 6 Jan
Rollapaluza: now 23 Feb at Didcot Civic Hall
Word has it there’s more than one sport you can do in cleats. Helping us bend our tiny minds around that frankly astonishing fact will be our very own Chris Boddy, GB rower turned DPCC tester.
What can we learn from Chris’s experiences of elite training (and now coaching) on the water and how he’s applied that to his civilian life as a time-triallist and all-round good egg? Join him at Boundary Park Pavilion from 7 pm on Monday 16 July to find out. FREE! (apart from the beer). There will be chairs, for we are nothing if not practitioners of the seated sports. See you there!
From this Thursday (5th) there will be turbo sessions at Brightwell cum Sotwell Pavilion (map), set up from 6:30 and sweat from 7. £3 per person. Borrow a club turbo or bring your own.
These run all winter, except for the first aid course (12th) and AGM (19th).
At the beginning of this year Dan and I went on on a training camp with Azur Cycle Tours as a prize for winnnig the ORRL. The camp was run by Justin Lord, who some of you might know, and featured some great rides with everything setup perfectly for us to make the most of our time out there to tackle some big mountain climbs around Nice. This Feburary he’s running a camp out in Tenerife (i.e. warmer and sunnier still!) and has invited folks from all the clubs involved in the ORRL. Here are the details (get in touch with Justin if you’re interested but post here too so everyone knows who’s going/interested):
As the curtain closes on an enjoyable 2015, thoughts turn to training over the winter and the 2106 season. As a proud ORRL sponsor, Azur Cycle Tours would like to invite you and your DPCC mates (club regulars as well as road racers) to join a training camp in Tenerife, 27/02 – 05/03.
The invitation is extended to all the ORRL clubs.
It should be a fantastic week – there will be a choice of rides each day, so people can choose between some high intensity training and some more relaxed riding in the sunshine! There is also a lot for non-cycling partners to enjoy.
Riders from other ORRL clubs have already signed up, and it would be great to have some DPCC riders along too.
The accommodation is in apartments in the Regency Country Club, so depending on numbers, it may well be possible for DPCC to have their own self-containted apartment, whilst being part of the wider group for rides and socialising.
All the details are on the website: http://azurcycletours.com/tenerife/ give me a shout if you have any further questions (AzurCycleTours@gmail.com). The places are actually going quite quickly, so if you’d like to join, please get in touch ASAP.

Welsh spring training trip #2 planning is underway. March 27-29 in Llandysul. Itinerary to be confirmed but similar to last year. Hilly rides Saturday and Sunday with an optional Friday afternoon for early arrivals. Saturday afternoon activity options (last year an afternoon of canoeing gave us a bit of a core workout). Accommodation at the Porth Hotel and the canoeing centre.

The club runs a weekly group turbo training session in the winter months at the Pavillion, in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell.
Each session last about an hour including 15 mins warm-up and cool down and is lead by club members: Simon or Robert.
If you have your own turbo then bring it along, but if you don’t then club has 5 to hire out. If you would like to reserve one, then please email email@example.com in advance.
Each session costs £3, with that money covering the cost of the hall booking, club turbo upkeep and a post session tea/coffee.
For further information click here.
Just a quick note to advertise our Winter Turbo Training sessions that started last Thursday at the Brightwell Jubilee Pavilion. See the Winter Training website for details and please come along and enjoy (ahem) the training!
We had 10 people last week, which must be a record for our first night of the season.
If you don’t already own a turob trainer, the club has a number available to book for each session.
Remember to bring £3 for each session, to help cover the hall hire fees.
See you there!
