Owusu, Heike (2002). Voodoo Rituals: A User's Guide. Sterling Publishing Company. ISBN 978-1402700354.

I always know where you are, every moment. Five years ago you said you needed time, and I gave it to you. But I've never left you. I never will." It is one of the foundational examples of grimoire, a textbook on magic, groundbreaking for its time and nearly encyclopedic in its information. Scot’s research included consulting dozens of previous thinkers on various topics such as occult, science and magic, including Agrippa von Nettesheim’s “ De Occulta Philosophia,” in 1531 and John Dee’s “Monas Hieroglyphica” in 1564. The result is a most impressive compendium. The heavens, as used in witchcraft. “The Discoverie of Witchcraft,” P. 283. Rare Book & Special Collections. I absolutely loved this! I've read a lot of good books this year so far, & this is definitely in my top 3. In this, we're introduced to Primrose Titan, the Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. Enter the calamity. Lucifer, King of Demons, who escapes from his cage in hell. His escape is what prompts the story. Prim is paired up with Atlas, God of Ice & one-half of the Grimm Brothers, to kill Lucifer. Neither is happy about this, but the story gets juicier & juicier from there.

This story absolutely blew me away. The writing is so beautifully immersive and atmospheric. It feels transportive, and just an incredibly thrilling and compelling ride. Overflowing with Underworld Mythology, and astounding imaginative twists on the Fables we've all been brought up on. Utterly enchanting and enthralling, there's so much action and adventure, it genuinely makes you forget you're reading, I was on edge the whole time. Primrose is just a fierce bad-ass, the amount of trials and battles she faces, yet she fights them all without fear or exhaustion is truly unmatched, she's on a whole other godly level. There are several different plot lines running simultaneously through the story, but it's just so immersive that it flows well, everything weaves together so seamlessly, adding further insight and depth to the stunning writing. Primrose is such a great female lead, I loved her strong personality which didn't falter at any point in the book. She knows what she wants, she stands her ground and isn't afraid of a good fight. I bought the audiobook version of Dark Magic because of the actor reading it- Stephen Thorne, who's reading of John Dies at the End is my favourite book. The setting is interesting- a society of mediums and magicians conduct seances to regularly and anonymously tip off the police about crimes and catastrophes about to happen. The main character Peter is a professional magician of great renown, a future Houdini in the making; he's also an orphan who inherited some strange powers from his murdered parents with a strange past. NEVER,NEVER Go after dark knowledge. even with a great experience and hard work , first of all you should became full honest with yourself and never go for your own benefit

While I enjoy an occasional E.A Koetting video, reading is still the best way of learning about any form of magic. The reason why I recommended mostly modern works first is because the writers condensed and extracted the most important information from older works. From the swamp tour I took a few months ago I learned that, yes people used to stuff their furniture and mattresses with the moss that grows on the trees. However that was about a hundred years ago and they stopped doing it because they never could get all the bugs out and their beds would always be full of biting insects. I really doubt the fellow in the book is that old. I recommend this to readers who enjoy Greek mythology with a darker twist, paranormal fantasy and FMC who is unshakeable and bold! Savannah Dubrinsky is the daughter of the Dark Prince. She wants her independence and isn't interested in answering to an ancient, bossy, control freak vampire that is claiming to be her life mate. Savannah is young and somewhat naive, but she has spunk and refuses to do Gregori's bidding without a fight.Savannah will grow up, leave the Carpathian mountains and she will become one of the world's greatest magicians. Nobody will know that what they see is real and her magic is real. An ancient tome delving into the dark arts of witchcraft and magic…a book of doom…yet it lives…at the Library of Congress. I don't recall there being many trees along the boardwalk, and I guaranty that there aren't any fraking snakes sleeping in them. Everyone calm down and let me explain before you loose you minds. She is Carpathian not human. This is not a case of arranged marriage when you can love someone else and/or hate your true mate. THEY ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER. And without each other they will live an awful life. Gregori was in extreme pain the entire 5 years he let Savannah go explore and become a famous Magician (which I'm not sure how this made sense, but whatever). Sharing gives us power over our own lives. No person can control a thing when it is freely available to all. Sharing is a basic human impulse that binds people together. When we share knowledge, skills, experience, and wisdom, it costs us nothing but our time, and often leaves us richer than we were. Look at your hero now. See what I really am. I kill without thought. Without effort. Without remorse. Without mercy. I am the monster you named me, and I am without equal. Someday I will pay the ultimate price. Savannah's soft laughter whispered over his skin. It was a gentle, cleansing breeze drifting through his mind. And who is stronger than my lifemate? No one can kill you. -Gregori and SavannahI didn't really connect with either of the love interests. We don't get to spend a ton of time with them with Primrose, and so there wasn't a strong enough connection established for me as a reader. Honestly, I enjoyed the scenes when Prim was on her own more than I did when either of the dudes came around. All witches "convicted by the Magistrate" should be executed. He allows no exception and under this condemnation fall "all Diviners, Charmers, Jugglers, all Wizards, commonly called wise men or wise women". All those purported "good Witches which do not hurt but good, which do not spoil and destroy, but save and deliver" should come under the extreme sentence. [8] Mathews, Chris (2009). Modern Satanism: Anatomy of a Radical Subculture. Greenwood Publishing Group. ISBN 978-0313366390. With a gripping synopsis that sounds promising and an opening line of "There is no such thing as happily ever after", Dark Magic delivers on adventure, action and magic. When Greek mythology meets the Brothers Grimm you know that this is no ordinary paranormal fantasy! I loved Primrose, she is such a fierce FMC and my new favourite character. The main character's girlfriend acted like a spoiled brat, and I was unclear if the reader as supposed to sympathize with her or hate her.

There were some time where some things came off as a little too convenient, though I suppose that's more typical when it comes to stories involving gods and goddesses. The expected romance didn't really develop, but I can't wait to see what comes of it in the sequel based on THAT CRAZY ENDING. I love you, Gregori," she whispered softly against his throat. "I really love you. The real you. Do you understand?"-Savannah Now some people will complain about Gregori. Yes he’s overbearing, arrogant, controlling and manipulative. All the Carpathian males are but I’ve accepted that. Especially when you consider what’s at stake.Hello. I am Christina and I'm a witch. I spend time contemplating the moon, and practising candle magic, mainly for healing. For this, I write what I am hoping for on a candle splashed with various scented oils and pass my wishes through the candle as it burns. All my friends know I'm a witch, but I don't say it to everyone and I don't walk dressed like a witch through the streets - it would be easy to be teased. I'm also a normal person. Gregori would just put Savannah into a deep sleep whenever she refused to do his bidding. I found this very disrespectful and annoying at first. Then it just became comical that the hero would be so arrogant and dismissive of his life mate.
